The Sippy Cup Wars

So...Thing 2 is 15 months old and just got off the Sippy Cup...like as of 2 days ago. The thing is with Thing 2 is that he's an incredibly strong-willed child. More so than my other two were at this age. He's also stubborn and it's his way-or-the-highway kind of child. Of course, there are pro's and cons to this kind of personality. And, he's a lot like me. (Poor kid).
Anyhoo, we've been giving him a sippy cup since he was about 10 months. I figured if I introduced it to him at this time, then by the time he'd reach a year old, it would be smooth sailing. Yeah, right!!!
When my other two turned one year old, I promptly threw out the bottles and stuck a sippy cup in their hand, and they took it. Never occured to me to transition...including swapping formula to milk, cold turkey. I was 10 years younger and new to this whole mom thing. Even though, looking back, I should have used my brain on that one.
Back to the story at hand...
By the time Thing 2 turned a year old, we had bought every kind of sippy cup made on this earth, all to no avail. He would just throw them in a fit, bang his head on the floor and wail, BA-BA!!!!!!! We would, of course, give in. I will admit the reasons:
  1. I didn't want him to cry.
  2. I didn't want him upset.
  3. I didn't like seeing him upset.
  4. Maybe this should be #1...I didn't want to deal with the agony of it all.
There...I admitted it!!! Ahhh, that feels better to let it all come on out!

Sooo.....Monday, we finally got our new carpet and it's so stinking plush, it's ridiculous. I have expensive taste and I firmly believe it was well worth it!! That's when we decided (well, I decided) that as of Tuesday, we (I) would just have to go cold turkey on this whole sippy cup ordeal. And, boy did I dread it!!!! When he woke up, I gave him one of the sippy cups that he would at least put in his mouth, and walked out. My husband and the other two kids watched anxiously with me on the baby monitor. Lo and behold, the little sucker drank out of that sippy cup! However, the rest of the day was NOT good. He screamed and cried and wailed for his Ba-ba. I can't believe I held firm and didn't give him his Ba-ba.
The next day, I tried it again and he didn't take the sippy cup and my heart just sank. Ugh...but he took it at nap time, and has taken one since then. YAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! He will still only take that ONE sippy cup, so tomorrow I shall go to Wally-World or Target and get whatever they have left of this sippy cup! I still can't believe it's been this easy but I'll take it!!

#3 State Champions and Other Musings

WOW...it has been an insane 2 weeks. I'm sorry my posts have been lacking as of late. My sons baseball team went all the way to the State Tournament for the 2nd year in a row. And, they placed #1 in their League and #1 in their District. We parents couldn't be more proud of them. After playing almost every single night for 2 weeks in a row after a long season and District games, we lost last night. We are #3 IN THE STATE!!!
But, if I may brag a little! My husband is the head coach and they couldn't have a better coach. And, my son....Oh, my boy. He is the shining star year after year. When he was 2 he was asked what he wanted to be when we grew up. His response was a serious one: "To be like my daddy and to play baseball." He started playing on a team when he was 4 and has been a star ever since. Everyone we play knows my boy and there aren't words for the swelling of pride I have for him. These are all the trophies for this season. My son is going to need more shelves!

Ok, I feel better! Also, we have moved all our home remodeling projects til after the games and so my house is just getting on my nerves. So Monday after a long awaited and 'getting on my nerves' period, we will finally have new carpet! Yah! My hubby finally got all the hardwood floor down and it's beautiful, of course. I am so excited to get my house back in order. I am a little OCD and like extreme order, even with 3 kids and a hubby.
I've tried to keep y'all up to date with the best deals I could keep track of.
I've also found myself another endevour and am super excited and hope and pray it's a success. I like to sew and design things and come up with new ideas all the time thinking I'm going to be the next Donald Trump..with hair, of course. I have found a great distributor of these elastic fold over bands and will be selling them on my other business side. One of my friends is getting my logo all designed up and I'm in anxious anticipation. So, when all things get up to speed, I shall let everyone know.
So until then, everyone have a blessed weekend. It's another busy one for us with a friends wedding. Next week, the girls basketball practices start, then foosball for the boy in 2 weeks. I couldn't be happier if not tired!

Time to Check Your Target Store for Clearance!!

Hey everyone! Just a heads up that July is the time for Clearance. If you didn’t know, it’s the biggest time of the year that just about everything gets marked down and moved out to make room for the last three major Holidays: Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Right now, you should see anywhere from 30%-50% off signs at Target on their Summer Items, possibly even their Patio section and even Toys!
And, in about a week or two, the BIGGEST and most secret Toy Sale will happen!! The Semi-Annual Target Toy Sale usually happens around the last week of July. And, it doesn’t get advertised or announced. Just one day, you will see the big clearance signs go up and once word gets out, it is a mad house. But, you can get all of the SAME toys you will be searching for during Christmas time for 50%-75% off!! It’s one of those times you literally have to drop what you are doing and run over to Target once it starts.
But for now, you should see a bunch of awesome clearance prices on a lot of stuff as they make room for new inventory. So, it might be a worth a drive to see what is going on at your Target store!
